Chris Brooks studied photography for 7 years between the Midlands and the north of England specialising in photography as art (paid for by jobs as wide ranging as oil refinery worker and club DJ). After graduation, he moved to London to become an assistant photographer, working in the fields of advertising, portraiture and fashion before shooting his own projects for various international magazines and commercial clients. Today, Brooks works between Europe and the US on his own commissions and personal work.
His interest lies in photography of space, people and object taken from a very human point of view. This combined with ideas about memory and place, as well as photography’s somewhat limited narrative ability, Brooks attempts to straddle the line between potential fantasy and lived reality.
